The Warrane Lecture is an annual public lecture delivered by an eminent person from public life or academia. Its aim is to contribute to the understanding of important issues and current challenges facing society, in line with the overall aims of UNSW's Warrane College.

Join us for the 2018 Tim Olsen Award exhibition opening and announcement. 

Tim Olsen has been encouraging and supporting young artists to pursue and build careers as professional practicing artists since 2001. One of the ways Tim has supported young and emerging artists is through the annual Tim Olsen Award at UNSW Art & Design.

Candidates are selected by a panel of lecturers for inclusion in the exhibition and for consideration for the Award.

Join Sir Fraser Stoddart, Nobel Laureate and Professor of Chemistry for his lecture on molecular recognition and self-assembly for the synthesis of functionalised and mechanised molecules.

Hear from Hae Won Park, research scientist from the Personal Robots Group at MIT Media Lab (USA), and learn about her work with social robots.

The Personal Robots Group designs machines that learn and personalise to their users' needs and goals over long-term interaction. They have designed award-winning robots that fit engagingly into peer-to-peer teamwork and family life.

Practically Virtual is an exhibition of Virtual Reality experiences used in research, and teaching across STEM disciplines.  With contributions from UNSW and Design, EPICentre, Garvan, Red Cross Blood Service, the Museum of Human Disease, UNSW Lite Room.

We are heading into a world where robots will be an increasingly important part of our lives. This won’t just have an impact on the future of work, but on the future of everything. What will it mean if robots are our toys, our pets, our friends and our partners?  If robots can be everything from carers to warriors, what does this mean not just for human lives, but for the way we understand human intelligence, human values, and humanity itself?

A musical legacy in and of itself, this concert pays homage to the nature of artistic inheritance and influence that left many composers overlooked in favour of former colleagues.

The world’s first e-waste microfactory was launched in April 2018 at UNSW Sydney’s Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT). Led by Professor Veena Sahajwalla, materials scientist and Director of the SMaRT Centre, e-waste microfactories offer environmentally and economically sustainable recycling solutions to the growing waste burden.
