Grand Ballroom, The Hyatt Regency Sydney
Man-walking-through-digital-world

In our tech-driven age, code isn’t just a part of our lives—it’s the heartbeat of our digital existence. From simplifying our daily tasks to opening doors to new innovations, it powers everything we do. Yet, with recent high-profile breaches the stakes have never been higher. How can we harness the potential of code while safeguarding against its pitfalls?

We invite you to join us as we deep dive into the world of digital infrastructure and unravel the dual-edged sword of our digital reliance—celebrating the possibilities while tackling the complexities and risks that come with them.

Our expert panel, spearheaded by Dr. Sebastian Sequoiah-Grayson, will lead a thought-provoking discussion on:

  • Cybersecurity Essentials: How to protect and fortify our digital realm.

  • Crafting Superior Code: The art and science behind reliable and efficient programming.

  • The Broader Impact: Exploring the economic, social, and legal impacts of digital infrastructure.

Plus, discover more on the boundless opportunities that digital technology offers for innovation and growth.

We look forward to welcoming you to this engaging and important discussion.

Sebastian Sequoiah-Grayson

Senior Lecturer in Epistemics, School of Computer Science and Engineering

Seb’s research reaches across theoretical artificial intelligence and the ethics of information technology. On the mathematical side of things, he is busy with substructural epistemic logics in the space of knowledge representation and reasoning. On the agency side, he is busy with an anti-foundationalist approach to free will and action, and virtue ethics as an escape from neo-luddite seductions. He sees AI as an affordance for human flourishing.

Lyria

Lyria Bennett Moses

Head of the School of Law, Society and Criminology and a Professor in the Faculty of Law and Justice.

She is also co-lead of the Law and Policy theme in the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre and Faculty Lead, Law and Justice in the UNSW Institute for Cyber Security. Lyria's research explores issues around the relationship between technology and law, including the types of legal issues that arise as technology changes, how these issues are addressed in Australia and other jurisdictions, and the problems of treating “technology” as an object of regulation. Recently, she has been working on legal and policy issues associated with the use of artificial intelligenceand the appropriate legal framework for enhancing cyber. She is on the Executive Committee of the Australian Chapter of the IEEE’s Society for the Social Implications of Technology and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and the Royal Society of NSW.
