An accomplished immune system modeler and virologist, Associate Professor Luciani works on vaccine development in the Kirby Institute at UNSW. His talk will bring to life the current vaccine development for COVID 19 and illustrate the novel immune system interactions being provoked.

Fabio will directly relate his work to the following syllabus points:

HSC Biology Module 7:

  • compare the adaptations of different pathogens that facilitate their entry into and transmission between hosts (ACSBL118)
  • investigate procedures that can be employed to prevent the spread of disease, including but not limited to: (ACSBL124)
  • vaccination, including passive and active immunity (ACSBL100, ACSBL123)

Recognition

We are working to get interim approval for this as a Professional learning experience through NESA - but that is not the situation currently. We suggest it applies to;

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance and structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area.
  • Apply knowledge of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area to develop engaging teaching activities.

We will furnish a certificate of attendance for participants who are logged in for the duration of the event, clearly identify their NESA number and interact at least once in the Q&A - other than a greeting.
