Please join us at the launch of the sixth annual Australian Mental Health Prize.

This award recognises Australians who have made outstanding contributions to either the promotion of mental health or the prevention and treatment of mental illness.

The launch will feature an address from current West Australian of the Year, Professor Helen Milroy, one of the two winners of the 2020 Prize.

Helen is a descendant of the Palyku people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia and an expert in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. At a time when child mental health services are buckling under the strain of demand, she stresses the importance of investing in our children’s mental health in their early years.

“Because if we invest in our children today, then we have a successful nation tomorrow. That’s what we need to do. If we think about our kids today, what will they say about us tomorrow?”

What indeed? Mental health sits at the cornerstone Medicine & Health's goal of improving health for all. As a university and community, we take seriously our role in bringing this field to the forefront through the Australian Mental Health Prize.

The launch will be held online as a Teams Live event. Please register to receive a link to the online event.

Please visit the Australian Mental Health Prize website to learn more about the prize and how to nominate.
