dynamite fuse about to be lit
A series of live talks exploring the questions we haven’t asked, the futures we can avoid and the unexpected realities yet to come.

UNTHINKABLE was a series of live talks presented by the UNSW Centre for Ideas and Carriageworks, 7–9 November 2019.

The program featured prominent international voices including, Monica Lewinsky, Reza Aslan, Mona Eltahawy and Tressie MacMillan Cottom.

If history has taught us anything, it’s that we have an uncanny capacity to make mistakes. What was once the status quo becomes unthinkable. What was once inconceivable becomes common place. So, what can we learn from the unthinkable actions of our past? And what lessons lie in the realm of ideas we are yet to imagine? It would be dangerous to believe there’s nothing left to learn, so why presume we know everything there is to think?

Listen to selected talks below. Subscribe to the Centre for Ideas mailing list to hear about the second instalment of UNTHINKABLE.
