UNSW Wind Symphony Concert: Folk Dances

The UNSW Wind Symphony invites you to revel in music inspired by dances around the world. Armenian Dances (part I and II) by Alfred Reed takes Armenian folk songs and extends on them symphonically, turning them into majestic realisations of their original arrangements for voice. There is an Australian thread with Gumsucker’s March by Percy Grainger, Nurture by Edward Fairlie and Sunburst by Anne Cawrse, together providing a distinct tone of familiarity and Aussie golden warmth within the program. Barnes' Pagan Dance and Giroux’s No Man’s Land are deeply imbued with story and together span human life from prehistoric times to a post-apocalyptic present day. Join UNSW Wind Symphony for their second concert of the season in a colourful exploration of themes of community and connection.
