Flowing Water

Join the UNSW Orchestra for an uplifting program brimming with lyricism and enchanting melodies. You will be transported to a revolutionary Finland as they detached themselves from the Russian Empire, with Sibelius’ Finlandia. Sibelius said of his work “It is the song of our battle, our hymn of victory”. Expect to be captivated by Dvořák’s joyful and melodic Symphony no. 8, which has been described exploring the ‘euphoria of being alive’. A highlight of the evening will be UNSW’s own Juliette Roumanoff, as she performs Lalo’s Cello Concerto in D minor. Juliette is one of the UNSW Concerto winners, and we can’t wait to hear her take on what is considered Lalo’s most beautiful and Romantic work. From the Spanish inspired lyricism of Lalo's Cello Concerto, to the moving serene-like hymn of Finlandia, you will be swept away in the ebb and flow of these melodic masterpieces.
