Ocean with David Attenborough – free documentary screening
🌊 Join us for a special screening of the 2025 documentary Ocean with David Attenborough, a visually stunning and thought-provoking film that explores the ocean’s vital role in sustaining life on Earth. It examines the impacts of industrial fishing and ocean warming on marine ecosystems, and highlights the benefits of marine protected areas (MPAs) for biodiversity, communities, and climate resilience.
The screening will be introduced by Associate Professor Andrew Dansie, Chair of the UNSW SDG Steering Committee and Humanitarian Engineering Program Lead. Dr Dansie is also co-lead on Project Halophyte, a groundbreaking initiative restoring mangrove ecosystems and tidal flows in the Pacific to protect coastal biodiversity, enhance blue carbon sequestration, and support climate-resilient livelihoods.
🧂 Sustainable, ocean-friendly snacks and drinks will be provided from 6pm (doors open) for a 6.30pm film start.
This event is part of UNSW’s SDG Showcase Week and supports UNSW’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 14 – Life Below Water
- SDG 13 – Climate Action
- SDG 4 – Quality Education
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
