Learn more about the photographic practice of Jamie James and their documentation of Sydney's queer performance culture over the last thirty years.

Jamie James is a freelance photographer whose work is informed by the ways people connect, hold memory and culture, and find identity and place. Jamie’s social documentary archive spans more than three decades, documenting a collaborative exchange with Sydney’s queer, sex radical/fetish, gender diverse, body-positive, and performance communities since 1993.

With a commitment to inclusive image making, their work foregrounds issues of social justice and the ethical representation of those on the edges, always keen to reject the 'centre'.

After the talk, join us for a drink to celebrate the closing weekend of THE PARTY, a landmark exhibition celebrating LGBTQI+ party culture in Sydney from 1973 to 2002.
