CVMM International Speaker Series with Prof Mary M. McDermott
Our visiting speaker is Professor Mary M. McDermott, Jeremiah Stamler Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, and Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University, USA. She also serves as a Deputy Editor at the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
Prof McDermott's lecture title is "Medical Management of Peripheral Artery Disease: An Update". This is a great opportunity to learn about a range of therapies for peripheral artery disease and to meet the speaker in person.
The event is free to attend, and networking drinks will be served at the conclusion of the lecture.
Professor Mary M. McDermott
Professor Mary M. McDermott MD is a physician scientist from Northwestern University, Chicago, who has dedicated her career to the investigation of functional impairment in peripheral artery disease. These presentations will provide an overview of scientific discoveries that have led to novel therapeutic interventions undergoing testing in randomized clinical trials including novel therapies such as the use of medical management and nutraceuticals for claudication pain, as well as various modes and prescriptive elements of exercise. Dr. McDermott will include discussion of her career pathway and role as a Deputy Editor at JAMA. Professor McDermott will be speaking at a series of engagements across UNSW and Sydney as a part of the UNSW Medicine & Health CVMM International Speaker Fellowship program.
