Please join us to celebrate the launch of a major new publication, ‘Sarah Contos: Eye Lash Horizon’. This special event will feature an insightful discussion between Sarah Contos and exhibition curator Karen Hall, followed by a book signing and a celebratory drink.

‘Sarah Contos: Eye Lash Horizon’ is a 320-page monograph exploring the concepts, media and preoccupations that have shaped Contos’s artistic practice for over two decades. The publication presents key works from 2013 onwards, and features documentation of the exhibition ‘Eye Lash Horizon’ alongside texts by Sarah Contos, Karen Hall, Natalya Lusty, Daniel Mudie Cunningham, and Naomi Riddle.

This limited-edition publication is available in a run of 650 copies, featuring 320 pages in a hardcover format (29.7 x 23.5 x 3.7 cm). Published by UNSW Galleries and Art Ink (ISBN: 978-0-6450166-2).

Exclusive to UNSW Galleries, an artist edition tote (limited to 100) is made from durable 14oz cotton (475gsm) and measures 36 x 40 x 12 cm.

The exhibition ‘Sarah Contos: Eye Lash Horizon’ is on display from 27 September – 24 November 2024 at UNSW Galleries, Sydney.

Sarah Contos

Artist

Sarah Contos is a multidisciplinary artist based in Warrang/Sydney. She works across sculpture, textiles, painting, video, and installation and explores emotional and theatrical relationships between imagery, form and materiality. Contos has collaborated on performance, costume, and stage design projects since 2002 and exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 2009. She has undertaken commissions for the ‘Balnaves Intervention Series’ at the National Gallery of Australia and ‘The Great Strike 1917’ at Carriageworks and has works in private and public collections throughout Australia, including the Art Gallery of South Australia, Artbank, Heide Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of Australia. Sarah Contos is represented by STATION, Sydney and Melbourne.

Curator

Karen Hall is a curator and arts professional based in Warrang/Sydney with extensive experience working in key cultural organisations nationally and internationally. She is currently the Exhibitions & Gallery Manager at UNSW Galleries and previous roles include Manager of International Signature Projects at the Australia Council for the Arts, responsible for managing Australia's Venice Biennale exhibitions, Touring Exhibitions & Special Projects Manager at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney.
