Clancy the Lion Art Competition | Community Day 2026

Are you a UNSW staff member with celebrated artistic skills or a hidden creative talent? Or do you have children or friends who love to draw? Submit your entry to the annual Clancy the Lion Art Competition and be part of UNSW Community Day 2026!

The UNSW Event Programs team are looking for artworks which capture Clancy the Lion's clean-energy superpower to display at the 2026 UNSW Community Day. All current staff members and their families/friends are invited to enter, and we want to see your unique illustrations of Clancy, inspired by the theme: "What Powers Clancy’s Roar?"

Could it be solar-powered sunshine, whirling wind, flowing water, or your own amazing invention that could make life on our planet better?

Draw, paint, watercolour, sketch, or use whichever artistic method you prefer – we want to see your creative style!

ENTRY GUIDELINES

Theme

What Powers Clancy’s Roar? The artwork needs to be either of or inspired by Clancy the Lion and his clean-energy superpower. See the gallery below for Clancy the Lion references.

Who Can Enter
UNSW staff and their families/friends.

Artwork Requirements
All artworks must:

• be in portrait orientation; 
• be A3 in size;
• not have a background.

Materials
Submissions can use any artistic medium – pencil, paint, markers, crayons, digital, etc.

Originality
Only original artworks will be accepted. Please refrain from submitting AI-generated artworks. 

HOW TO ENTER

Submit your entry either:

• via the online entry form and upload a high-resolution scan of your drawing.
  • Please keep the original safe in case the team needs to contact you to rescan it. 
• in person at the Chancellery Building reception (C22), Gate 9, UNSW Sydney. 
  • Download and complete the entry PDF form and drop it off with your original artwork.
  • Label your package c/o Emily Oades, Producer, Event Programs.

Entries close Wednesday 23 September, 5pm.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY ARTWORK?

Successful artworks will be displayed at UNSW Community Day 2026 in a featured exhibition. Prizes will be awarded to the selected hero artworks, as outlined below.
