Students in lecture theatre learning

The Scientia Education Academy is delighted to welcome Associate Professor Elaine Huber and Dr Stephanie Wilson from The University of Sydney.

Large-scale delivery of learning and teaching is now a shared challenge and opportunity across the higher education sector – whether large cohorts or classes. This SEA lecture will focus on the practical design of engaging students in large-scale courses, building on a comprehensive strategic project conducted at The University of Sydney Business School called Connected Learning at Scale (CLaS). Underpinned by a co-design approach and connected learning theory and practice, the project aims to transform the teaching and learning experience in all large undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Through presentation and discussion, we will share critical learning from delivering innovative teaching to 1000s of learners by presenting the team’s approach along with some examples from a range of design patterns. These have been developed to address the biggest problems of scale – which participants can adapt to meet their own needs.
